The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad is a non-profit and New Jersey Department of Health licensed agency that provides Emergency Medical and Rescue Services (EMS) the residents and visitors of Hamilton Township, Atlantic County, NJ. This includes the communities of Mays Landing, Bears Head, Clarkstown, Cologne, Gravelly Run, Harding Lakes, Indian Branch, Laureldale, McKee City, Mizpah, and Weymouth as well as the Atlantic City Expressway.
With a roster of over 60 Emergency Medical Technicians and a fleet of 6 Ambulances, 1 First Responder, 2 Boats, 1 Dive Truck, and 1 Rescue Truck, the squad is able to respond to all types of medical and traumatic emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We respond to over 4,000 requests for service annually with two on-duty crews that respond from our Mays Landing station.
The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad is an independent agency that is not a department of the Township of Hamilton. As a result, we are not fully supported by taxpayers in regards to funding for operations. In order to sustain operations, the rescue squad third party bills for service. All patients who are transported by our ambulances are billed. Funds recovered from billing finance payroll, equipment purchases, training, and education as well as community outreach.
The rescue squad also seeks new members on a regular basis. Many staff members live within the township border however this is not a requirement. EMTs with more than a year of experience are encouraged to apply to work for us. Our diverse and growing town provides excellent opportunities to provide care in both a rural and suburban setting. For those who are less experienced or looking to start a career in EMS, we encourage you to volunteer with us to further your training.
