Welcome

The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad is a 24-hour operation that consists of paid and volunteer emergency responders who are able to handle a wide variety of incidents. These emergencies range from simple assists such as persons who have fallen and need assistance to their feet to cardiac arrests where someone has stopped breathing. In addition to serving our community, we also provide mutual aid assistance to surrounding municipalities including Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township, Estelle Manor Galloway, Hammonton and Weymouth.

Our agency also works alongside Atlanticare Regional Medical Center's Mobile Intensive Care Units, who respond to life-threatening conditions. Atlanticare is able to provide invasive and advanced treatments such as IV Medicine, Intubation, Cardiac Pacing, and Breathing Treatments to patients while they are being transported to the hospital by the rescue squad. Many of our members also serve as Paramedics with Atlanticare full-time.

In addition to receiving and practicing the highest standard of training, we operate state-of-the-art equipment that allows us to provide superior and safe care. All of our ambulances and responder vehicles are equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), Oxygen, Portable Suction Units, Motorized Stretchers, and Toughbook computers. Our ambulances are all manufactured by Horton Emergency Vehicles, the leader in modern and safe ambulance design and production.

Below are descriptions of the services that we provide to our community.

Mission Statement

"Building better community relations through professional pre-hospital care to the residents and visitors of the Hamilton Township and surrounding communities"

Basic Life Support

Our highly trained and experienced EMTs are on call 24/7 to respond to any type of medical emergency that you may be experiencing. Whether this emergency is life-threatening or a simple fall, our team can respond quickly to come to your assistance. In addition to being trained to the BLS level, our staff can administer CPR and Narcan as well as assist with the administration of Epi-Pens, Glucose, and Aspirin. Many of our staff members work as Paramedics and Nurses, bringing with them their educations and skills.

Vehicle Extrication

Holding the distinction of being the first and currently only EMS agency in Atlantic County to provide such service, Vehicle Extrication is an important part of the care of patients who may be confined to their vehicle after a serious accident. Along with the Mays Landing Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department and Laureldale Volunteer Fire/Rescue Company, the rescue squad works to ensure that victims are rapidly extricated after a serious crash so that they may be transported to the hospital and receive definitive care as soon as possible.

Fire Rehab

To ensure the well being of firefighters and other responders at the scenes of large fires or other prolonged events, we work alongside other local and county agencies to ensure that firefighters stay hydrated and are well enough to return to duty. This helps to prevent injury and illness on fire grounds, especially during conditions such as extreme heat or cold weather. Other county resources are hosted by Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, Absecon Emergency Services, Buena EMS, and Atlanticare EMS.

Event Standbys

The Rescue Squad is available to standby at events that have the potential to draw large attendance and/or have the potential to see a higher risk of injury or illness. The squad already stands by at local events such as Graduations, Varsity Football, Hometown Celebration, Halloween Parade and was the exclusive provider of EMS at the Atlantic City Race Course. The squad is also available to standby at other events such as bike races, watercraft events, or be displayed for educational or outreach purposes.

Dive Team

The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad is the home of the township's Underwater Search And Recovery Unit, known as the Dive Team. Members, who are all volunteers, train, and strive to provide water rescue and or recovery services in the swift, still, ice. and underwater environments. In addition to the rescuing of live victims in distress, this units also assists Law Enforcement with recovery of objects such as lost property and evidence that may be submerged.

CPR Classes

The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad is proud to offer hands-on American Heart Association approved BLS Provider and Heartsaver cpr classes.
