Career Opportunities - Per Diem EMT 

The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad seeks new employees on an ongoing basis. Applications are collected and reviewed quarterly in an effort to keep staffing sufficient for the growing demand for service. Applicants are required to have current: 

New Jersey or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) 

Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (CPR) 

New Jersey Driver's License with Clean Record 

Incident Command System 100 and National Incident Management System 700 

Minimum one year of EMS experience responding to 911 Calls  

Applicants are subject to an assessment and testing of their skills in a written and practical exam as well as a panel interview. Subjects are also required to go through a thorough background check and medical clearance exam. New hires will be required to go through orientation and on the job training during their probationary period. Salary is based on experience and comparable to other agencies in the area.   

Volunteer Opportunites 

In addition to a career staff of EMTs, the rescue squad also encourages those who are new to the field of EMS to apply as a volunteer. Volunteers ride as extra persons on the ambulance in an effort to gain knowledge and experience to further their training. Volunteers are paired with experienced EMTs who serve to mentor and teach newer EMTs who may have little to no experience of their own. Volunteers may start with minimal training (CPR and First Aid) and can attend EMT training while riding on the ambulance. Many of our career staff began their venture as volunteers themselves. Volunteers are subject to the same hiring process with the exception of certification requirements and skills assessment. Volunteer applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis as well.
